Cygnet’s CAMHS services in CQUIN case study recognition

We are pleased to share the recent case study published by NHS South West on Cygnet’s successful implementation of year one of the current national CAMHS CQUIN: Inpatient transitions.

The Quality Improvement Lead for NHS South West Clinical Network contacted our CQUIN team following the initial year one results being published nationally and Cygnet being identified as one of only 3 national providers to have achieved full compliance.

They were interested in finding out what processes had been developed and changes we had made as an organisation and within units to successfully improve the transition of our young people onto Adult or other CAMHS services.

We shared the journey we had been on, highlighting the importance of collaborative work and reviews through quarterly CAMHS CQUIN ward manager network meetings, the development of a co-produced “Movin On” Survey with the young people. There was also an increased focus on improving initial communication with young people and their teams on admission to establish discharge plans, identify any potential blockages and therefore reduce delayed discharges.

“Thank you, and all your teams, for all their hard work to support young people at vulnerable times in their lives. It is a difficult, demanding and rewarding role for everyone in the teams and we should celebrate and recognise excellent practice.” Annika – Quality Improvement Lead for NHS South West Clinical Network

NHS South West were so impressed with our work and the enthusiasm that came from our conversations and the team that they wrote a case study on the Cygnet CAMHS transition journey. The aim of the case study is to share it with providers locally to improve compliance levels for this CQUIN as well as distribute nationally to all NHS England teams.

“I would like to thank the CAMHS teams at Sheffield, Godden Green and Bury for all of their continued hard work and dedication to improving the transition of our young people out of Cygnet and going above and beyond to achieve this success.”Haley Williams – Contract Compliance, leading NHSE CAMHS CQUIN
