As a team, the service has signed up to the Skills for Care initiative I Care, which encourages support workers to spread the word about their job and the ways in which it is rewarding.
Over the next few months, Kyle, Mabruka and Mo will be visiting local colleges and recruitment days to tell people about the benefits and challenges of support work, so that anyone who is interested in the career can make an informed decision. Alongside this, they will be working on promoting the projects that support workers are involved with at Cygnet Wast Hills, which are helping people along their path towards more independence.
Cate Ball, business support manager, said of the I Care Ambassadors, “It’s early days, but the I Care Ambassadors are already making a positive impact. I am proud and encouraged by their work so far. Well done Cygnet Wast Hills, especially Mabruka, Mo B and Kyle.”
