Autism-friendly Reflection Room at Cygnet Adarna House
Cygnet Adarna House has recently renovated and adapted its Reflection Room to make it more autism-friendly for its service users.
Occupational Therapist Ella and the Manager, Matthew, ordered new sensory equipment such as a bubble machine, sensory grids, mats, and a rocking chair to complete the room. The service users are already benefiting from and enjoying the new features.
On bank holiday Monday, staff and service users held their first relaxation session in the newly refurbished room. The service users enjoyed various face masks and eye masks and were treated to a luxury hot chocolate. They also listened to relaxation videos on the laptop in a quiet environment.
One service user commented, “It’s a nice space to unwind and have some quiet time.” Another service user said they would now like regular relaxation sessions.
