Broughton House hosts Christmas Market to raise money for local Hospice
Following on from the success of last year’s Christmas Markets at Elston House, this year, Broughton House decided to host the Christmas Market event at their site to raise money for the local hospice, Beaumond House, in Newark. They were joined by Social Care services from across the Midlands, and Broughton Lodge, to enjoy all of the festivities.
A nativity scene was created by the residents and staff teams at Broughton House, which was placed at the beginning of the driveway to welcome people on arrival.
The stalls sold various items, including sweets, hot chocolate-making kits, arts and crafts, Christmas-themed items and delicious cakes. The team also held a tombola and raffle with some fantastic prizes to be won, including hampers of goodies. And the day was not complete until you had visited Santa’s grotto.
Catherine Ball, Regional Manager for Social Care in the Midlands said: “It is so nice to see everyone at these events come together. Although our jobs can be stressful, it reminds us all that this is why we do what we do, to give people the best experiences we can. Many of our service users would not be able to tolerate going to a busy event in the community, so the idea was born to bring a market to them. A big thank you to Clare Spicer, Activity Co-ordinator at Broughton House, Anthony Cobb, Activity Co-ordinator at Beeches and all of our Managers and staff teams for supporting the event and making it a success once again.”
Overall, the Christmas Markets this year raised a fantastic £851.34 for the hospice. The team hope to continue the event each year now as it is thoroughly enjoyed by the people they support and staff teams.
