Cygnet Views celebrate Africa Day
Cygnet Views hosted celebrations on Saturday for Africa Day. The unit was decorated in balloons and flags, and staff and service users were encouraged to dress for the occasion! Some support staff came in their traditional African clothes for the day and support worker Samuel supplied traditional African dresses for his colleagues to try on. The afternoon was spent listening to music and making some of their own with traditional instruments. A cooking session took place in which traditional African dishes were made by staff for all to try, these included; pounded yam, fried turkey, egusi soup, jollof rice and fried plaintain. The day was a great opportunity for both service users and staff to learn more about the African culture and traditions first hand from their colleagues/staff, and to enjoy some delicious food!
