Men’s Mental Health Event at Cygnet Appletree
The Physical Health Department at Cygnet Appletree organised a combined Men’s Mental Health Week/Father’s Day event, to raise awareness of the stigma surrounding men’s mental health issues. The theme of the event was ‘Let’s break the silence’ surrounding this important topic.
Throughout the morning, three separate groups of ten staff members shared their experiences and coping strategies to offer support to their colleagues struggling with mental health issues.
The discussion about men’s mental health included signposting to the Man Health Group, which aims to empower men experiencing mental and physical ill health through support and education. Additionally, some male members of the staff participated in 1:1 sessions to openly share their stories for guidance and therapeutic release.
To conclude the event, the staff were given gift bags with the message: “May you be proud of the work you do, the person you are, and the difference you make.”
The Physical Health Department received a big thanks for organising and facilitating this impactful event.
