Old Leigh House Residents’ Day Out in Southwold
Residents and staff of Old Leigh House had a great day out at Southwold, a picturesque seaside town in Suffolk.
The day started with a pleasant drive to the coastal town. Upon arrival, they were impressed by the clean and open layout of the seafront and the shopping area. The group strolled along the beach path towards the 31-meter-tall lighthouse, a Grade II listed building that is still a working lighthouse, guiding vessels along the East Coast.
They also visited Southwold Pier, which stretches 190 meters into the sea and is a bustling tourist destination. It features an arcade with a collection of unique automata, a arcade of homemade machines and simulator rides designed by Tim Hunkin. After visiting the shops and kiosks on the pier and enjoying the sound of breaking waves beneath the deck, everyone had a picnic of sandwiches and drinks on the seafront before heading back home.
