Supported Living in Huddersfield Resident’s Fun-Filled Trip to Las Vegas

Terry, a resident of Ashfield, part of Supported Living in Huddersfield, recently travelled to Las Vegas for a fun-filled week’s holiday, supported by Cygnet support worker Shacaine.

This was Terry’s second time visiting Las Vegas. He went last year with support staff and wanted to go back as he enjoyed it so much. Although Terry is a nervous flyer, he doesn’t let this stop him and all he asks is that he can hold his staff’s hand which makes him feel reassured.

He initially chose Las Vegas as a holiday destination as he likes Elvis, music and all things showbiz, so it is the perfect location for him. He also likes to look his best, and likes his staff to look their best too, even commenting that they will need some fancy new frocks for their time away.

Whilst there, Terry spent time browsing the shops in the hotel and visiting the restaurants. He had particularly enjoyed walking down the strip, taking pictures with the show girls, and visiting a pub that had Elvis memorabilia. They visited some of the charity/thift stores that Vegas had to offer, which he really enjoyed doing and purchased some Elvis CD’s to take home.

One evening, they went to watch Bruno Mars in concert. Terry had been very excited for this and spent time looking for the perfect hat to wear to this event. Whilst there, Terry sang and danced along to the show. He said this was a highlight of his holiday.

Throughout the week, they also visited other hotels where Terry played on the casino machines, and at the indoor canal he made a wish by throwing a coin into the water.

Terry had a fantastic time and is already planning his return holiday there next year.
