Meet the Team
James O’Neil – Deputy Operations Director
James has been a Manager within Cygnet Health Care for over five years. James has been involved in the set up and commission of new complex services for people with intellectual disabilities and high support needs. James has worked in the capacity of a Registered Manager and Regional Manager over his time with Cygnet Health Care and currently is the Deputy Operations Director for the North West.
James has a keen interest and passion for developing people, both who we support and team members to achieve their best.
Emma McEvoy – Registered Manager
Emma joined Broughton Lodge in 2017 as a bank support worker. Emma has over 15 years’ experience working in learning disability, epilepsy and challenging behaviour services.
Emma is the services mental health first aider and values ambassador. She has a passion for coaching and mentoring staff to ensure the best care is delivered to residents and focuses a lot of time on staff wellbeing.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys singing and likes to spend time with family and friends.
Annabelle Lee - Deputy Manager
Annabelle joined Broughton Lodge in 2019 as a support worker, this was Annabelle’s first job in social care. Annabelle quickly progressed to senior support worker within her first six months and then joined the management team in October 2022 becoming the Deputy Manager.
Annabelle has a passion for delivering high level, person centred care, while supporting the welfare of staff.
Daniel McGloin - House Manager
Daniel has worked at Broughton Lodge since July 2017. This was Daniel’s first job in social care and he previously worked as a teacher. Daniel started as an activity coordinator before senior support worker and then he became Unit manager in September 2021.
Daniel is the reducing restrictive practise lead at Broughton Lodge. Through this he hopes to continue creating an environment where residents are supported to achieve their potential using a personal centred approach, considering each individual’s needs.
Dr Julia Clark - Counselling Psychologist
Julia is a qualified Counselling Psychologist, registered with the HCPC and a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society. She has been qualified since 2016, and completed her Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at City University, London. Julia is specialised in Autism assessment and diagnosis, and providing interventions for children and adults with autism and learning disabilities, as well as supporting their families and providing training. She has been working at Broughton Lodge since February 2020.
Julia is passionate about improving the lives of people who have autism and/or a learning disability through the use of a Positive Behaviour Support approach. She is fully invested in demonstrating the Cygnet values here at Broughton Lodge, by showing respect to our residents and ensuring they have the best quality of life possible, and that they are empowered to be as involved in their care as possible.
Kate Bennett - Assistant Psychologist
Kate joined Broughton Lodge as an Assistant Psychologist in August 2022. Prior to this, Kate worked as a Support Worker, supporting individuals with autism and learning disabilities.Kate has completed her BSc in Psychology at the University of Birmingham in 2020, before going on to complete her MSc in Forensic Psychology and Mental Health at the University of Manchester.
Kate is passionate about ensuring the residents are offered choice, are able to be involved in their care, and that the support they receive is person-centred.
Joanne (Jo) Steenkamp - Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist
Joanne (Jo) is a Speech and Language Therapist who is registered with the HCPC (The Health and Care Professions Council) and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Since qualifying in 1996, Jo has worked in a range of community, educational, residential and inpatient settings both in the NHS and private sector for individuals with autism, learning disabilities and mental health needs. She gained a broad range of experience in both communication and dysphagia.
She first joined the team at Broughton Lodge in 2017 as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and has progressed to Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist for Social Care within Cygnet. As part of the Speech and Language Therapy Team at Broughton Lodge, Jo works to support the staff and service users to maximise their potential and access the highest quality and most effective support possible.
Jo is passionate about person-centred planning and the promoting of independence through the use of multi-agency working, accessible information, co-production, training and supporting an inclusive communication environment.
Chloe Chester - Speech and Language Therapy Assistant
Chloe is a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant who has been working at Broughton Lodge since May 2022. Prior to her current role, Chloe worked for 2 years’ as an educational assistant in an Special Educational Needs school supporting students with Autism (ASD) from age 5-18yrs. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature & Drama/Theatre Studies at Liverpool Hope University in 2020.
Chloe is passionate about making information accessible & making reasonable adjustments for all of our residents. She is also keen on promoting choice for individuals in their monthly People’s Council meetings. As part of the Speech and Language Therapy team on site, she assists in overseeing the inclusive communication environment, ensuring that the environment is person-centred for the individual’s communication needs.
Aline Dickinson-Smith - Activity Co-ordinator
Aline has over 30 years’ experience supporting individuals facing challenges with learning disabilities and their mental health.
She joined Broughton Lodge as a Support Worker, before progressing to her previous role as a Senior Support Worker and then her current role as Activity Co-ordinator. Aline is passionate about providing person centred activities that are fun and enhance the well being of the service users.
In her spare time, Aline likes to spend time with her family, walking her dog and volunteers as a Listener with Samaritans.
