Meet the Team

Hayley Walker – Hospital Manager

Hayley is a Registered Mental Health Nurse and qualified mentor with 6 years’ experience working for the company. She started her career in mental health rehabilitation services in 2014 as a staff nurse before progressing to Senior Nurse. During this time she gained experience of Acting Head of Care role at male and female mental health services as well as in Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) services. She joined the team at Cygnet Heathers as Senior Staff Nurse in 2018 then progressed to Head of Care. Hayley was appointed Hospital Manager of Cygnet Heathers in 2024.

Dr MD Ashraful Bari

Dr MD Ashraful Bari has been working in the field of psychiatry for the last 15 years. He was trained in Great Manchester Psychiatric rotation.

Dr Bari obtained his Post Graduate diploma in General Adult Psychiatry from Manchester University. During this time he had the opportunity to work within the European Huntington’s Disease Network under the supervision of David Crawford. He later on developed his interest in clinical Neuropsychiatry and completed a speciality Neuropsychiatric module from Kings College.

Dr Bari is also a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and successfully completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Neuropsychiatry from Birmingham University. He has a special interest in sleep and completed his specialist CBT training in sleep medicine. Along with his clinical interest in Clinical Neuropsychiatry, he has also worked in senior roles.

Janet Shuttleworth - Head of Care

Janet joined Cygnet as a support worker in 2012 at Cygnet Raglan House, a mental health rehabilitation and recovery service for women. She went on to her nursing studies and joined the team at Cygnet Heathers as a newly qualified nurse in 2017. In 2019, Janet was promoted to senior nurse and had the opportunity to complete a level 5 leadership and management course. She successfully completed this in 2021 and was appointed head of care at Cygnet Heathers in 2024.

Alex Scordis-Hutchinson – Neuro-Occupational Therapist

Alex qualified with a BSc (HONS) in Occupational Therapy in 2005 from Coventry University. She started her career working for the NHS in acute medical settings, rehabilitation hospitals and in the community. She has worked with a range of clients across orthopaedic and surgical wards, older adults, hand injuries but the main focus of her career has been neurological rehabilitation and long term neurodegenerative conditions.

Alex joined Cygnet in 2015 at Cygnet Heathers and took on the role Clinical Lead OT for Neuropsychiatry in 2019. Rehabilitation and Neurology has been Alex’s passion throughout her career and supporting service users to fulfil their goals. She works to support the development of OT’s with the Neuropsychiatry service to ensure that they are providing the most up to date and evidenced based service to service users.

Sonya Masih – Speech and Language Therapist

Sonya began her career as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2011 and proceeded to work across a variety of settings in both the private and independent sector. During this time, Sonya gained experience of working with a range of client groups which included learning disabilities, autism, PMLD, brain injury, neurological conditions and mental health.

Sonya first joined Cygnet in 2013, working within the learning disabilities service line and was successfully appointed to support the opening of Cygnet Heathers in 2015. In 2018, Sonya combined her role at Cygnet with an NHS position working on acute medical and surgical wards, returning to her substantive post in 2019. Sonya is enthusiastic in providing holistic care and supporting individuals through their care pathway, from admission to discharge, and looks forwards to empowering others in sharing the same vision.

Sonya has recently been appointed a new role as a Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist Mental Health, CAMHS and our Older Adults services. Sonya is excited to support the SLT team and develop staff to achieve their potential which in turn will enable them to deliver the best possible care and treatment across services.

Jennifer Tibbles – Clinical Psychologist

Jennifer completed her BSc in Psychology at the University of York in 2008, but gained her interest in neuropsychiatric conditions from her experiences working in a residential college for young people with epilepsy and other neurological conditions. This shaped her ambition to continue further training to become a Clinical Psychologist.

Towards this goal she completed an MSc in Mental Health in Learning Disabilities at Kings College, London before gaining a place on the Clinical Psychology Doctorate program at the University of Surry in 2013. During training, Jennifer gained experience in a variety of settings and with a range of client groups, and in particular enjoyed working within a neurodevelopmental service delivering assessment and intervention for adults with executive functioning difficulties.

After qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2017, Jennifer came to work for Cygnet Autism Residential Services, where she provided behavioural assessment and support for clients with severe cognitive impairments and complex needs. In 2018, Jennifer accepted a role at Cygnet Heathers where, in addition to her clinical work, she has initiated a Local Research and Development group.

Payal Devgan - Physiotherapist

Payal qualified with BSC in physiotherapy from Khalsa college in India in 2009 and worked as a physio in MSK and neurology in acute settings whilst in India. She moved to England in 2010 and got her HCPC registration in 2016. Since then she has been working as neuro physio in the rehab setting treating those with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and with neuro degenerative conditions, working both in the community and outpatient clinics or residential settings.

Payal joined Cygnet in 2019 as a neuro physiotherapist. She thrives on learning more and is always looking for new ways to implement treatment and achieve the best results for service users.

She is working towards to be a Clinical Educator in order to provide practical placements to physiotherapy students.

Pavan Chahal - Occupational Therapist

Pavan qualified as an Occupational therapist in 2021 graduating from Coventry University. She spent time working at Cygnet Sedgley House before moving across to Cygnet Heathers. She is passionate about empowering and motivating clients to achieve their goals.

We are delighted to announce that Cygnet Heathers, our Neuropsychiatric care and treatment service in West Bromwich for men affected by acquired brain injuries and neurodegenerative conditions, have retained their ‘outstanding’ rating across all six domains in a recent review by Headway, the Brain Injury Association.
