Arranging a visit
Visits should be booked at least 24 hours in advance. Please telephone 01484 405900 to do this. If the service user is in agreement, a convenient time will be arranged and the visit will go ahead at the discretion of the nurse in charge.
What to expect on arrival
On arrival please ring the intercom bell by the front door. You will be asked your name and who you are visiting through the intercom system. A member of staff will come to the front door to greet you, you will be asked to sign in the visitors’ book. You will be shown to the visitors’ room or one of the other lounges. Some visits will be supervised by a member of our nursing team. Staff will ask to check any items you bring in for your relative/friend to ensure the overall safety on the unit. If you would like to see around the unit, this may be possible to arrange or we can provide a “walkthrough” video of what the unit is like.
A Smoke Free Environment
Cygnet Lodge Brighouse is classed as a ‘smoke-free environment’. This means that no person will be permitted to smoke anywhere on the hospital grounds, this includes the car parks, the grounds and the hospital courtyards.
This policy is applicable to all members of staff, visitors to the site and all service users in our care. The implication of this is that service users will not be able to smoke their cigarettes whilst they are on the hospital grounds, unless they have adequate Section 17 leave to allow them to leave the premises.
Carers Questions
At Cygnet Lodge Brighouse we recognise the value and importance of Carers involvement in their relatives care.
We have a number of avenues such as Ward Rounds and Care Programme Approach meetings whereby carers can attend and pose questions to the Multi-Disciplinary Team. However, there will be occasions when you think of a question and we feel it important that you have a way of asking it.
If you have any questions you can contact Tara Hirst, Social Worker, on the following e-mail address – [email protected] who will endeavour to answer your questions as soon as possible.
Children
Children under the age of 18 are only allowed to spend time in the designated visitors’ room. A full assessment needs to be completed prior to any child visit and this may involve a Social Worker visiting the child at home and speaking to the relevant people. This assessment will be completed as quickly as possible but visits are not able to take place until it has been done. If a child visit is anticipated then please contact the ward staff so that they can initiate this process.
Parking
There is a small car park to the side of the building; parking in this car park is free of charge. There is also on-street parking.
