Art in the form of paintings, drawings and poems was displayed, all created by service users. One service user explained that her work was part of her mental health recovery journey; ‘I express myself through art,’ she said.
The exhibition, held in the hospital’s Studio Room, was just one part of a day of activities. The event was organised by the Occupational Therapy team and proudly supported by service users and staff.
The day unfolded to a background of lively music tracks chosen by service users. Service users also baked items for sale which were highly popular. Raffle tickets were sold for items that had been donated by staff. A total of £88 was raised for the charity, Samaritans. The day concluded with a release of balloons containing inspirational and hopeful messages.
Thank you to all the service users and staff who contributed to the success of the event and in particular to the service users for sharing their inspiring artwork.
