A meeting room, decorated with bunting and balloons, was set aside for the launch. Service users and staff were all invited to come and look at prospectuses for the autumn term and even browse the AQA units for individual learning. There were presentations, leaflets and of course refreshments.
The courses on offer for group learning in the autumn term are ‘Introduction to Meditation’, ‘Kindness and Self Esteem’, ‘Introduction to Judo’ and ‘Singing and Percussion’. There are also many different individual courses too which will be facilitated by one to one sessions each week.
Jo Wilkinson (Recovery College Lead), Caitlin Craggs (Recovery College Co-ordinator) and many of the course facilitators were on hand to explain things on the day and there was a PowerPoint running with information on recovery colleges in general.
There was a good response from service users with many signing up for the first courses which begin this week.
Jo Wilkinson said, “Thank you to all those who supported on the day, we look forward to Turning Point becoming a big success. We will look to gain momentum over the coming weeks and have more courses to offer in future.”
