The annual HEART Awards celebrate the contributions and achievements across the county, which help to keep the communities safe. The team were nominated for their collaborative work with the Stevenage Fire Service as part of the Firesetting Intervention Programme for Mentally Disordered Offenders (FIP-MO).
This collaborative working involved the psychology team providing training to the fire service to improve their knowledge of mental health issues and the treatment effective for fire-setters; in exchange for the fire service delivering two of the FIP-MO group sessions addressing fire safety and awareness.
After being shortlisted in their category, the psychology team and fire service team members were invited to the awards ceremony. On the night, they were successful in winning their category and were presented with an award in recognition for their outstanding contribution to reducing risk and improving community safety.
