Cygnet Lodge Salford welcome Mayors to Summer Carnival

Service users and staff at Cygnet Lodge Salford were joined by two mayors and members of the city council to enjoy the service’s Carnival Fun Day last week.

The event featured stalls, food and drink and a variety of activities including a drag queen entertainer, stilts performer and a bubble entertainer, as well as Soak the Staff.

Alongside staff and loved ones of the service users, the team were delighted to welcome, not just one, but two Mayors; The City of Salford Ceremonial Mayor, Gina Reynolds, along with the Elected Mayor, Paul Dennett. Other Salford City Councillors were also in attendance including Councillor Mishal Saeed, Executive Support Member for Social Care and Mental Health.

Leigh Wilkinson, Hospital Manager, explained: “They were really interested to learn of the work we are doing in partnership with the NHS to improve the lives of women in our care.

“They stayed for two hours at our Carnival Fun day enjoying the music and dance acts, but most importantly chatting with our team of medical experts, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, and the ladies themselves.

“I am immensely proud of our whole team for constantly creating new and exciting activities for our patients to enhance their time with us, as it all contributes to their eventual transition into their next pathways in the community.

“A good day was had by all.”

The Ceremonial Mayor Cllr Gina Reynolds agreed the day was a huge success.

She commented: “It was wonderful to visit this fantastic Cygnet Health Care facility that provides such important support for women who are struggling with their mental health. To be part of their summer carnival celebrations was a real privilege.

“The service clearly offers more than just specialists and treatments. What was clear is how it values service users as individuals and empowers them to unlock their talents and aspirations.

“I would like to thank the staff who took the time to speak to myself, the City Mayor Paul Dennett and Councillor Mishal Saeed, they are incredibly hard-working and passionate people who go above and beyond in the care of their service users.

“We all look forward to keeping in touch with staff and residents at Cygnet Lodge Salford to hear more about exciting plans for the future.”
