Dr Baxter has been a Consultant Psychiatrist since 2001 and has worked mainly with female patients with complex needs. She was part of the team which set up the Nottingham NHS Eating Disorders Service and its first consultant from 2001-2003.
Since 2003 Dr Baxter has worked within the independent sector, this includes spending five years as consultant for a specialist in-patient unit at St Andrew’s before joining Cygnet Hospital Ealing in 2009 as lead consultant for that hospital’s eating disorder service. Dr Baxter rejoins Cygnet after a break in working in inpatient services.

Alvaston Ward is a low secure service which can support up to 16 women aged over 18. It is a highly specialised ward for women with a primary diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder. The ward can support service users with the most complex needs and those for whom other services have not been successful.
