From the number of people we supported, improving our environmental credentials, maintaining our quality with our regulators and investing in our staff, our last year was a successful one for Cygnet.
- We treated 7,761 unique service users during 2023.
- For the second year running, we have outperformed the national average in regulatory ratings, with 81% of our services across health or social care rated ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by our quality regulators.
- In 2023 we invested £35.6m in estates, facilities, IT and developments to benefit service user care.
- We continued to invest heavily in our staff with 85% of people saying they enjoy working for Cygnet. In 2023 we achieved a reduction in staff turnover, we used fewer agency workers than ever and we enhanced the retention of our workforce.
- We gave more focus to the carers of our service users by launching the Cygnet Carer Network. We became the first independent provider of health and social care services to achieve Triangle of Care accreditation.
The Cygnet Impact Report showcases the positive impact our high quality services are having and the collective impact our staff are making together. It highlights cultural successes, looking at service user, carer, commissioner and staff satisfaction, as well as the impact of our Freedom to Speak Up ambassadors, learning and development opportunities and our staff networks.
As well as statistics and figures which demonstrate our impact, it also details case studies from our service users about how our support and treatment has empowered them to reach their goals and stories from our Experts by Experience about how our care has enabled them to go from the ward back into the workforce.
This year, Cygnet is investing over £60 million to build new hospitals, providing 200 new beds and creating more than 1,000 new jobs around the country. The report sets out our vision and ambitions for the future and our enduring commitment to providing the highest quality care across all of our services.
Our CEO, Dr Tony Romero, said: “I am proud to look back on our many achievements in 2023, which marked Cygnet’s 35th anniversary year.
“We helped many thousands of people across the country who, without our services, may not have got the care and support they desperately needed. I am able to reflect on the outstanding work our staff delivered to make a positive difference to the lives of 7,500 individuals who we cared for last year.
“Our staff give our service users hope of a brighter future and constantly strive to provide high quality, safe, person-centred care.
“Putting service users and their loved ones at the heart of what we do is our core value and I very much hope you enjoy reading about the impact we are having and how we are improving lives together.”
