On 14 March 2017 Cygnet held its latest free educational event, 'Rehabilitation and Recovery: New Approaches.' More than 120 delegates gathered at the Royal College of GPs for the event which explored a range of topics examining the very latest thinking and practice in rehabilitation and recovery in mental health.
We are pleased to announce that from Monday 6th March 2017 Cygnet Hospital Harrogate's Sanctuary Ward will change from a mixed to an all-female acute admissions ward. This decision is in recognition of the increasing numbers of female referrals who, because of the presenting complexities and vulnerabilities, would benefit from an all-female environment.
Cygnet Health Care is pleased to support Children’s Mental Health Week (6-12 February). The week is hosted by children’s mental health charity Place2Be, which was recently announced as Cygnet Health Care’s nominated charity for 2017.
Cygnet Hospital Stevenage has recently developed a new treatment programme for its Acute Wards. The Coping Skills Group is a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) informed programme, which has been specifically developed to meet the needs of service users on the two acute wards at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage.
On Friday 27th January Cygnet Hospital Godden Green held their Recovery College launch event. It was attended by a wide range of peers including current and ex Service Users, Experts by Experience, Corporate team members, Carers, Rethink management and the hospital team.
Cygnet Health Care is pleased to announce that Place2Be has been chosen as its nominated charity for 2017. Place2Be is the leading national children’s mental health charity in schools and charity provides emotional and therapeutic services in primary and secondary schools.
On 10th and 17th January service users and staff members from across Cygnet attended the launch events for the network of Recovery Colleges opening their doors at 11 sites across Cygnet.
We are proud to announce that no fewer than eight service user led projects from Cygnet hospitals have been shortlisted as finalists in the National Service User Awards 2017. Cygnet Hospital Derby has four projects in the final and Cygnet Hospitals Bierley, Bury, Kewstoke and Stevenage also each have a nomination in the final.
On Wednesday 21st December Critterish Allsorts attended Cygnet Derby for the day to provide a pet therapy session for Alvaston Ward, Litchurch Ward and Wyvern Ward. The animals included a snake, skunk, dog, giant millipede, lizard, tortoise and a chinchilla.
Cygnet Hospital Beckton is to welcome a Royal visitor to highlight the important role occupational therapy plays in supporting health, well-being and life-satisfaction for people who use the service.
Cygnet Hospital Blackheath recently hosted their fourth Family, Friends and Carers (FF&C) event. The aim of these events is to get to know the family members, carers and friends of our service users and to provide them with support and information they will find useful.
