Located in Dunblane, Ranaich House is a specialist residential service offering care and support in a structured and therapeutic environment for up to 14 adults with learning disabilities and complex needs. The service provides specialist nursing care and support that is tailored to individual needs, promoting independence and community integration.
The latest inspection was an unannounced inspection on 20th and 21st October 2022. The inspection was focused on two of the five Quality Inspection Framework evaluations – ‘How well do we support people’s wellbeing?’ and ‘How good is our leadership?’ Following the inspection they were rated as ‘5 – Very Good’ in both areas.
The full report, published on the Care Inspectorate website, highlights many areas of positive practice, including:
- An enabling approach was encouraged and some individuals had significantly increased their independent living skills.
- Inspectors received feedback from family members and professionals that staff were friendly, respectful and supportive.
- Residents led active lives and were going out in the community regularly and there were a variety of activities taking place.
- Family members said they felt the service was led well, with comments including “the manager is honest, transparent and supportive.”
- Inspectors saw good evidence that staff in the home took quick action whenever residents required health input. This proactive approach
helped ensure any potential risks to people’s health were identified quickly. - There was an overall service improvement plan that brought together quality assurance and self-evaluation activities to drive improvements and shape the future direction of the home.
Jorden Gallagher, Service Manager, said: “I am incredibly proud of our team supporting Ranaich House to achieve 5’s for the first time ever. Our staff work hard each and every day to ensure the people we support receive the highest quality of care, it is amazing to see this be recognised and reflected in our recent inspection. I want to thank every member of the Ranaich House team for their ongoing commitment to our service and as we always say – team work makes the dream work.”
