As part of service user development at St Augustine’s Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent the OT Department discussed with their service users the possibility of creating a relaxation garden for them at the hospital.
The service users were involved in a planning meeting and they discussed what they wanted to be included e.g. creating paintings, buying plants etc.
Over the past few months the OT Department and service users have worked together to create the garden and a garden opening party was recently held. There were drinks and snacks, garden games plus one of the service users even DJ’ed!
The space will now be for service users to relax and can also be used for therapeutic groups and 1:1 sessions. The service users feel valued and proud that they have been able to help create such a brilliant space.
Well done to the team at St Augustine’s!
