The following week, the ‘sunset’ background was painted and stencils of various wild animals were produced using card and scissors. During the third week of working on the mural, service user’s used sponges to apply black acrylic paint over the animal stencils. This method produced duplicate images of the animals on the savannah scene. Service users then painted the two trees on to the mural free hand using more black acrylic paint.
In the final week of production, service users applied the finishing touches to the mural by adding a second coat of paint to some of the features to make them more defined. With its simple design and bold colours it’s made a real impact on visitors entering the building. Service users and staff alike have also commented on how much they like the mural.
