The first Yellow Book was created in by Rethink Your Mind in 2012. It was created by those with experience of mental health challenges with the aim of providing an uplifting and inspiring wellbeing resource.
The project usually opens for entries every two years and in addition to their own Yellow Book, Rethink Your Mind also collaborate with organisations, like Cygnet Health Care, to create their own personalised Yellow Book.
The Cygnet Health Care Yellow Book contains artwork, poetry, music and creative contributions from service users across Cygnet and is a celebration of how creativity can support positive mental health.
It is also a wellbeing resource which signposts the reader to different organisations and charities who can support wellbeing and good mental health. It includes simple practices to build healthy habits, such as mindfulness and other self-regulation practices.
In his foreword to the Cygnet Health Care Yellow Book, Dr Tony Romero, CEO writes, “In our busy lives we often don’t take the time to consider the little things that make us grateful, or to reflect on an achievement that we are proud of, but it can often be those little things that make us smile and contribute positively to our self-esteem and wellbeing.
“Please join me in celebrating the wonderful works contained in these pages and let’s continue to harness the power of art in mental health recovery.”
The Cygnet Health Care Yellow Book will be displayed in all Cygnet services for service users, residents, staff, families, carers and visitors can all benefit from the inspiring works and messages within.
