Cygnet Hospital Bierley's Recovery College have had their first AQA accredited award ceremony. Staff and service users from all wards were invited along to show their support and celebrate the achievements made.
On Thursday 22nd March a special lunch was held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Cygnet Hospital Blackheath. The lunch was well attended by service users and staff, including some team members who have moved on to other roles within Cygnet and who came back to Blackheath especially for the occasion.
Cygnet Health Care's Reducing Restrictive Practice team continue to share their work nationally as Rosalyn Mloyi (Reducing Restrictive Practice Lead) and Raf Hamaizia (Expert by Experience Lead) presented at the BILD 2018 Restraint Reduction Conference held on 5th-6th March 2018.
A fantastic collaborative project between staff at Cygnet Hospital Bury and the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) has resulted in a new Management of Actual or Potential Aggression (MAPA) training video for Deaf team members.
We are pleased to announce that Cygnet Hospital Taunton will be opening a new rehabilitation service for men with learning disabilities and complex mental health needs. The new service will open on Monday 25th June and is now accepting referrals.
Service users at Cygnet Appletree recently took part in a two-day First Aid at Work course. The course covered all the basic first aid techniques such as the role of the first aider, unresponsive casualty, communication and casualty care, resuscitation (adult CPR), fainting, burns and scolds.
Well done to the team at Cygnet Lodge Kenton who have achieved AIMS re-accreditation from the Royal College of Psychiatrists. In total Cygnet Lodge Kenton met 96% of the 250 standards that services are measured against.
We are pleased to announce that Cygnet Sherwood Lodge, Mansfield, will shortly be opening two brand new community-based step-down services linked to the hospital. The two new services are the two-bed Adele Cottage, just next to Cygnet Sherwood Lodge, and the Sycamores Bungalows located in Alfreton.
On the 25th January 2018, Sacha Barnes, Ward Manager and Shaun Stevenson, Therapy Manager attended a Welcome Event for the Quality Network of Psychiatric Intensive Care Services (QNPICU) held at the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Congratulations to the team at Cygnet Victoria House for successfully gaining AIMS accreditation from the Royal College of Psychiatrists. AIMS (Accreditation of Inpatient Mental Health Services) is a national project developed to ensure best practice is being achieved in in-patient mental health rehabilitation services.
On 20th February 2018 Cygnet Hospital Stevenage hosted a free educational event for mental health professionals entitled: “Women In Secure Mental Health Settings – Assessment, Management and Treatment”. The event, which was held at BMA House in London, was attended by over 100 mental health professionals and was well received by those who attended.
Members of Cygnet Hospital Bierley's Psychology team recently presented preliminary outcomes for its new substance misuse programme at this year’s Division of Clinical Psychology Conference in Cardiff.
